Features & Tools:
The following are some of the great features offered by dbDirector Ecommerce. |
 |
|
|
 |
Shopping Cart |
|
The easy to use shopping cart is designed to simplify the online shopping process
and by doing so enhances the customer's experience at your online store. With the
dbDirector Shopping Cart customers are able to focus on your products and complete
their purchases easily. Enhancing their online shopping experience not only encourages
your customers to purchase more but also adds value to your brand. In addition,
you will enjoy their repeat business and referrals. |
 |
Express Checkout |
|
dbDirector's checkout process is based on research and statistics of online customers'
behavior. On most websites customers are required to go through a lengthy process
in order to check out, and as a result, most of them never complete their purchase.
dbDirector increases their purchase rate by implementing a one-step checkout that
makes it easier and faster for the customer to complete their purchase. |
 |
Returning
Customers
Checkout |
|
Returning customers can check out even more easily since dbDirector retrieves their
previously used shipping and billing addresses. In addition to saving several of
their own addresses, they can also provide addresses of their friends, in case they purchase
a gift and would like to mail it directly to their friend. |
 |
Gift Registry |
|
The Gift Registry is a great tool to increase sales and expand your customer base.
The customer can create a Gift Registry in much the same way as adding items to
a shopping cart. Then, the customer can send an email (from within your store
or independently) to friends with a direct link to their Gift Registry. Their friends
can visit your store and shop for the items on the customer's Gift Registry.
The Gift Registry provides flexible tools for your customers and their friends.
For example, for a wedding registry, the customer may add a bride or groom's name and/ or the date of the ceremony. This will allow visitors to your website
to find
a specific registry list by entering either name of the bride or groom and/or the date of
the wedding. |
 |
Wish List |
|
The Wish List feature works like the Gift Registry but is usually
named the Wish List on fashion and accessory online stores. dbDirector gives you
the flexibility to name this feature however you'd like, and that name will appear
on the store's navigation menu. |
 |
Multi-Level Categories |
|
As a store manager, you can set up major categories (also called parent or top categories)
and sub-categories (also called child-categories). The multi-level organization
structure is unlimited and a category can hold unlimited sub-categories and products
simultaneously.
We recommend using sub-categories for stores selling many items to simplify navigation
through the various categories. |
 |
Store Merchandizing |
|
Enjoy complete flexibility when merchandizing your store. With dbDirector's tools
you can change the display order, sort order and location of the various products
on the page. This is extremely important when selling fashion and accessories or
any other design-related items, which contain a wide variety of colors and styles.
You can also move a product from one category to another or display it in several
categories at the same time, without having to upload the product to each
category. |
 |
Search |
|
The Search tool is provided in various areas on the website. The customer can use
the search tool to find specific products, blog entries, articles, videos or images.
For you, the store manager, a search tool is provided on the admin control panel
to easily find customers' information, specific orders, products, etc. |
 |
Products & Sub-Products Options |
|
Like a retail store where all items of the same product tend to be located at the
same place, your online store allows similar organization. dbDirector's product
setup tools lets you easily create product and sub-products.
For example, the "Bonita" leather shoes are sold in white, black and brown. In addition,
each pair of shoes comes with either white or black shoe laces. dbDirector lets
you set up the product "Bonita Leather Shoes" and sub-products as the various color
and lace options. The customer can select from a drop-down menu or even click on
a swatch (a small image of the color) to view the sub-product.
The dbDirector product system is completely flexible. Like the example of the shoes
above, you may organize products and sub-products in many possible ways. For example:
- Merlot (Red wine): Sub-products could be the various vintages
- DVD Player: Sub-products could be the voltages (120v, 220v)
- Pizza: Sub-products could be the various toppings
- Rings: Sub-products could be the various stones
Setting up sub-products helps your customers find what they want easily and quicky.
The more variety of products your store offers, the more effective sub-products
will be. |
 |
Products & Sub-Products Sizes |
|
The flexible product-size tool lets you sell products of different sizes or scales
simultaneously. For example, a fashion website that sells T-Shirts and Jeans would
use the following sizes:
T-shirts: Small, Medium, Large, XL, XXL
Jeans: 29, 30, 31, 32, ....40
Examples of types of scales:
- Wine & Beverages: 500ml, 750ml, 1 liter
- Shampoo: Regular, Large
- Computer RAM: 1GB, 2GB
- Performance Skies: 165cm, 170cm, 175cm, 180cm |
 |
Related Items |
|
As part of the visual merchandising of your store, you may consider displaying related
items on a specific product's page. For example: When the customer is viewing a
product page of a specific pair of jeans, you can also include a couple of belts that
may go well with those jeans. Similarly, when your customer is viewing a CD album,
you can display several other albums by the same musician on that same page. |
 |
Cross-Selling |
|
The Cross-Selling tool lets you display additional products to the customer, based
on purchases by other customers, along with the message: "customers who ordered
this item, also purchased the following items:"
The Cross-Selling feature allows you to expose customers to other products that
they may enjoy, but this feature may not be good for certain stores. As the store manager
you must determine whether this feature will enhance your sales or distract your
customers.
|
 |
Inventory Control & SKU |
|
Complete inventory management lets you set up quantities and SKUs per product, sub-products
and size.
The inventory quantities get updated with each customer's order and when you, the store manager, proccesses an exchange or return. |
 |
Orders & Invoices Management
|
|
dbDirector's orders management system is designed to save time especially for merchants
who receive large volumes of orders.
The Auto-Order Notification feature emails you once a new order is received and
logs them under "New Orders". You may turn the Auto-Order Notification feature
on or off depending on your volume of sales and your level of interactation with
your dbDirector ecommerce store. |
 |
Barcode |
|
High volume stores may activate the dbDirector barcode feature, which can be set
to various encoding methods to match your existing POS system or other ERP system.
The barcode added to the printed invoice also helps with the shipping process. |
 |
Barcode Reader |
|
High volume stores that experience significant volume of returns or exchanges may
scan returning packages to easily locate the order in the system. Note: A barcode
gun is required. |
 |
Automatic Receipt Email |
|
Upon a successful purchase, an email receipt is sent automatically to the customer. |
 |
Exchange & Returns |
|
Depending on your store policy, you may allow customers to ship products back for
an exchange or return.
When you record the exchange or return of a product, dbDirector's
tools provide you with complete flexibility.
You may refund the entire amount to the credit card which was used for the purchase,
you may charge the card for an additional amount
(in case the customer wishes to exchange the product for
a higher-value product) or you may provide a store credit. |
 |
Orders History |
|
The History tool records any change to the status of an order. An order status can change
either automatically by the system or be changed manually by the store manager. Examples for
order statuses are: "Paid", "Shipped", "Canceled", etc.
When the store manager changes the status of an order manually, a memo area is provided
to enter additional comments. This tool is highly useful for stores with multiple
managers. If an order status is changed by a store manager after speaking with a
customer over the phone, any important details of the conversation can be entered
in the memo area for other managers to see. |
 |
Archive Orders |
|
Old orders can be archived to clear the order management area and to increase performance
of the order tools.
|
 |
Promo Codes |
|
Promo Codes are the electronic equivalent of printed coupons and are useful to lure customers
to your store and to move old inventory at the same time. Customers activate the
discount by entering the Promo Code into the appropriate box when checking out.
dbDirector's Promo Codes tool gives you amazing flexibility for your promotional
ideas. You can set a promo code to provide a discount either as a percentage of
the total order or as a flat dollar amount. You can limit the promo code to a specific
item, category or activate it for the entire store. You can limit promo codes to
work only for orders with a set minimum order total. You can also set a promo code
to be active only between certain dates. |
 |
Origin Codes |
|
The dbDirector Origin Code feature allows you to track how your customers came to
your online store. You can use the Origin Codes on banner ads, Google Ad-words,
Yahoo Search Marketing, MSN Search, email campaigns or affiliates' websites.
dbDirector displays the customer's Origin Code on the purchase order. |
 |
Shipping |
|
dbDirector believes that shipping is one of the most important components that makes
an online store successful. The shipping tools include several modules to fit your
particular store's shipping needs.
For example, The dbDirector Local Delivery tool lets you enter particular zip codes
for Local Delivery if you offer
such service. When the customer checks out, according to the shipping address entered, Local Delivery may be displayed as a shipping method. The dbDirector Local Delivery
tool also lets you set up a different prices per zip
code, helping you cover gas
and auto expenses appropriately.
Another module is the "do not ship" feature. Wine and liquor stores are not allowed
by law to ship alcohol products to certain states. With dbDirector's Shipping tool
you can set up (or download automatically) the "Not-Allowed" zip codes for shipping
of alcohol. In case a customer attempts to purchase an alcoholic beverage with a
shipping address which is not allowed, a friendly message will appear: "We do not
ship to the specified zip code. Please click here for a complete list of allowed
zip codes". |
 |
Shipping Integration
|
|
The dbDirector ecommerce store can be integrated with your shipping carriers on
2 levels:
Basic Integration provides accurate shipping rates for the customer
upon checkout, allowing the customer to choose the desired shipping method.
Advanced Integration generates a tracking link when you, the store
manager, process the order. Your customers can then check on the status of a pending
order on your store website. When an order's status changes to "shipped",
an automatic notification email is sent to the customer along with the tracking
link.
Shipping Integration:
UPS, FedEx, USPS, DHL, Local Delivery |
 |
